Region A Bowling
Region A Bowling is a qualifier to Sectional Bowling held at The Cherry Bowl
What Is Bowling?
Bowling is perhaps the most popular sport in Illinois. Bowling competition is conducted using a traditional format. However for those of lower ability or with physical disabilities, bowling has been modified by utilizing a ramp on the approach.
As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped into competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender when appropriate.
Athletes in Illinois who participate in bowling compete locally at Region Qualifying events. Gold medal winners are then advanced to Sectional Qualifying competition. Gold medal winners are then eligible to advance the State Bowling Championships held in Peoria in December.

Event Details
Singles Competition will be held at The Cherry Bowl, 7171 Cherryvale N Blvd on August 16 and 17. On Saturday, August 16, Registration begins at 8:30 AM with warmup at 9:00 AM, Opening Ceremonies at 9:15 AM, and competition will begin at 9:30 AM. Doors to the center will not open until 8:30 AM. Second shift bowling will begin at 12:30 PM. On Sunday, August 17, bowling will begin with warmups at 9:15 AM and competition at 9:30 AM. Doors will open at the center at 8:45 AM on Sunday.

Volunteer Information

All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and lunch! Volunteer duties include lane monitoring, assisting with the awards ceremony and handing out lunch. Volunteers do not need to have bowling specific knowledge to attend this event. Training will be given prior to competition.
