Region H Spring Games

See our athletes in action as they compete for a chance to go to Summer Games in a variety of Athletics events at Glenwood High School in Chatham!

What is Spring Games? Spring Games is our annual event featuring Athletics (track & field events). This is our signature event in Region H. Opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 am followed by a full day of competition.

Athletics Facts:
Athletics offers a wide variety of traditional track and field events. Competition is also provided for athletes with lower ability levels in a variety of development track and field events.
As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped into competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender when appropriate.
Athletes in Illinois who compete in athletics compete locally at their Region Spring Games. Gold medal winners are eligible to advance to the state championship held at the Summer Games in Normal in June.

•    50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and 3000 Meter Run
•    100, 400 and 800 Meter Race Walk
•    Running Long Jump
•    High Jump
•    Shotput and Wheelchair Shotput
•    Relays – 4X100 and 4X400 Meter Run, 4×25 Meter Wheelchair and 4×100 Meter Walk
•    Pentathlon (100, 400 Meter Run, Running Long Jump, High Jump and Shotput)
•    25, 30 Slalom, 100 and 200 Meter Non Motorized Wheelchair Race

Developmental Events
•    10, 25 and 50 Meter Assisted Walk
•    30 and 50 Meter Motorized Wheelchair Slalom
•    Standing Long Jump
•    High Jump
•    Softball Throw
•    Tennis Ball Throw

Competition Information

Event Details
This event will be held at Glenwood High School located at 1501 Plummer Blvd, Chatham, IL 62629.  

Volunteer Information
Volunteer registration for is now available at the bottom of this page. If you do not have an account in the new Volunteer Portal, you will need to create one. Then your account will be active and ready for all future Special Olympics Illinois events!

All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a lunch. Volunteer duties include escorting athletes, scorekeeping, timing, assisting with awards ceremonies, handing out lunch and more. Volunteers do not need to have track and field specific knowledge to help at this event. Please note that the end time may vary based on how quickly we get through the schedule. The competition will not end until all athletes have competed and been awarded. We hope to see you there!

Concessions & Souvenirs
Concessions and souvenirs will be available on site for purchase. All athletes, registered coaches and volunteers  will receive a free lunch.
