What Is Gymnastics?
Gymnastics is a sport that blends strength, flexibility, and artistry. Rhythmic Gymnastics, on the other hand, combines gymnastics movements and dance steps performed to music, using apparatus such as Rope, Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon.
As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped into competition divisions according to ability level, age and gender when appropriate. In gymnastics, athletes also compete in specific levels.
Athletes in Illinois who received a gold medal in Rhythmic Gymnastics at their Region Qualifying event. advanced to state championships at the Summer Games.
